The position of a Head Constable belongs to the police department of a state or central government. Thus the position of a head constable occurs in vast numbers in state and central government. The position also occurs at Border Security Force and also Indo Tibetan Police Force. The eligibility criterion for the post of Head Constable is simple one, wherein the interested candidates should be 12th pass or equivalent from a recognized board at the time of filling up of application form. They should possess a speed of 30 words per minute in English. And 25 words per minute are enough in Hindi typing. Preference would be given to those candidates who have working knowledge of Accounts and Office Procedures. The age limits for the post of constable is between 18 to 25 years (relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST-05 years, OBC-03 years, sportsmen/sportswomen-05 years) and the post is open to all the citizen of this country with a few percentages reserved for SC, ST, BC, PWD and Ex-service men candidates. Besides the educational qualifications physical fitness is the main criteria for the post of head constable. The candidates must meet the physical measurement standards which are For male candidates: height: 165cms, relaxable by 5cms for residents of hill areas and ST candidates; chest: 78 to 82cms, relaxable by 5cms for residents of hill areas and ST candidates. For female candidates: height: 157cms, relaxable by 5cms for residents of hill areas and ST candidates. They should be normally intelligent and quick on physical movements. Application should be submitted in a prescribed format to the concerned department. The initial pay scale is PB-1 Rs.5200-20200 and Grade Pay Rs.2400 and other allowances as admissible. The application forms can be obtained from the Employment News, typed/photocopied on A-4 size paper, strictly as per format published in the Employment News or could be downloaded from the respective website. The application form should be sent through ordinary post along with an application fee of Rs.100/- (in the form of demand/bank draft/banker’s cheque/IPO) to the concerned department. However, SC/ST and ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from the application fee.
