Staff Nurse Vacancy

Nursing has now become a fast moving profession in the job market. Though there are umpteen private hospitals in and around the country the professionals still prefer government hospitals for varied reasons. The government institutes are also in high need of skilled staff nurses lately and this has resulted in bulk recruitments. The application procedures are quite simple though different government institutes resort to different modes. There are institutes that insist on online applications alone and institutes that similarly insist on sending in the application via post. The application fee generally comes around Rs.200 for GEN and OBC candidates whereas SC/ST candidates are exempted from any application fees. On the seat allotment as well there are categorized reservations for SC/ST, OBC candidates. Non creamy layer of OBC candidates are not eligible for any reservation and are thus required to apply in GEN category. It is imperative that all the details furnished in the application form has to be error free as this could stand as the sole reason for a rejection. Another relevant factor in this regard is the eligibility criteria. The basic educational qualification expected from a staff nurse is a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or equivalent. Also the applicant has to be a registered as Nurse or Midwife with any State Nursing Council. The eligible age limit falls between 18 – 35 years. The upper age limit can be relaxed up to even 40 years for SC/ST and OBC candidates. The selection process of staff nurses, as in the case of any other government job, usually is also a two folded procedure involving both written test and personal interview. The scores earned in the written test are added to the performance in the personal interview of the qualified candidates and the net score is considered for the overall decision regarding the appointment. The initial payments of staff nurses come about to Rs. 8500-9300 plus the grade pay. However with the frequent pay revisions and salary hikes with seniority and even otherwise and not to mention the fringe benefits of a government job, it is overall a very attractive package.
